Opera Workaround: Emoticons In One Long Line

<< updated: 5/30/2003

Summary: Workaround for emoticons in the emoticon box appearing in one long line in Opera.

Details:

The ezBoard javascript function incorrectly uses a non-breaking space between emoticons in the function "drawEmoticons". If we replace non-breaking spaces in the emoticon box, the problem goes away.

HEAD: (box #1)

<style type="text/css">
#emoticonbox input { padding: 2px; }
#emoticonbox { width: 200px; }
</style>

HEAD Notes:

Rather than using HTML spaces to separate the emoticons, give them CSS padding with a STYLE tag in your HEAD. Combine with existing CSS if you have any. Update the width property of #emoticonbox to suit.

FOOTER: (box #4)

<script type="text/javascript">
if (document.getElementById("emoticonbox")) {
document.getElementById("emoticonbox").innerHTML=document.getElementById("emoticonbox").innerHTML.replace(" ","").replace("drawEmoticons (eList);","");
}
</script>
